Another Way with Dani

By: Dani O'Brien Buckley
  • Summary

  • Hi, I'm Dani! I love people and I love talking about the human experience. I'm a seeker and a connector. From a very young age I've believed in the power of discourse and critical thinking - and that "because this is how we've always done it" is not a valid reason to keep doing things a certain way.

In every episode I sit down with a different guest (or guests) and dive into how they are challenging the status quo and choosing unconventional paths in life. Together, we explore their insights, experiences, and stories around specific themes. The mission is to open our hearts and minds so we can consciously explore ways to live more authentically, intentionally, and on purpose. And hopefully break through outdated paradigms despite what we've been told or taught.

  • A Path to Reconnection: The Art of REPAIR - Dr. Hazel-Grace Yates
    Oct 23 2024

In this episode we really get to the heart of conflict resolution and how so many of us are missing the mark when it comes to repair conversations and what we can do about it. Intimacy coach, Dr. Hazel-Grace Yates, has used their extensive experience both personally and professionally to develop The REPAIR Process, which is designed to help others transform conflicts into connections with ease.

We talk about why this is so important and the many ways that we might be getting it wrong with repair. Plus, we dive deep into the 6 steps of the REPAIR process and how you can improve relationships and deepen connections using it. This REPAIR process is useful for ruptures both big and small, and the goal is to simplify these conversations so you can have them easily when needed.

Have you ever wished you could have more direct, clear conversations while in conflict? Do you struggle with regulating yourself when triggered? Do you feel like these convos just never quite go the way you want? Do you want to feel more connected after a repair conversation? Then this episode is for you!

  • Going Inside: Healing, Freedom, & Restorative Justice - Malcolm Dydo
    Oct 2 2024

In this episode, I sit down with Malcolm Dydo, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Freedom Within Prison Project, a Santa Cruz, CA-based nonprofit dedicated to restoring wholeness to individuals, families, and communities impacted by incarceration.

We talk about the recent, devastating execution of Marcellus “Khaliifah” Williams in Missouri. While tapping into our anger and sadness for the broken prison system, we also explore our shared hope for what is changing and can change.

Malcolm shares a broader view of what it's like inside and what incarcerated folks are up against, as well as the many ways that volunteer programs (like Freedom Within) are working hard (with success!) to create new pathways for healing, growth, connection, and learning.

This episode is an exploration of what is possible if we're open to empathy, change, and healing for every human. And how emotional literacy and human connection are foundational elements for every human's healing journey - and that everyone deserves access to.
