  • Students were asked to consider the concept of culture by exploring different music genres.


    The different topic choices were as follows:


    A. Students will produce an interesting and engaging analysis of Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., while paying close attention to how the work explores the representation of the culture of a particular place, or group of people or how it relates to a particular culture. (Students may use their essay as a starting point)

    B. Students will explore one genre of music and how it ties to black culture.

    C. Students will explore a black Canadian artist of their choosing and their contribution to Canadian music and culture. Students must pay close attention to how this artist explores a particular place, or group of people or how it relates to a particular culture.


    D. A topic of your choice regarding the concept of culture. 


    Students will explore an aspect of the representation of the culture of a certain place, organization, or group of people, or how the text itself relates to a particular culture.
