In this episode, I sit down with author Carmelo Rodriguez of Dead Solider A Story of The Living. Carmelo served the Army from 2005 to 2010 as a 19D scout. He was attached to three different duty stations during his time with one deployment. Now he is an author who wrote his first book about the time the VA said he was deceased. After the VA wrongfully declared him deceased his life was a crazy roller coaster. Imaging going through life after a mistake that happen to you of that magnitude.

I sit down with Captain Joseph Ivanov who was in the Marines for 8 years and has been a Green Beret in The Special Forces for the last 17 years. Joey has been going to Normandy for the D Day Anniversaries since 2013. He has jumped in some of the annual parachute drops in some of the past D Day Anniversaries and Mr. Stephen Spears who created the US Navy Memorial which is located on Utah Beach at the Utah Beach Museum and the Dick Winters Leadership Memorial (Band of Brothers) which is also located in Normandy. Joey is doing this project in a partnership with Operation Democracy which is a 501c3 nonprofit, which is located in Locust Valley, NY.

Matthew is a 19-year veteran with the Navy and Coast Guard. While in the Navy he was a minesweeper assigned to a rotational crew for 4 years. The rest of is time in service was with the Coast Guard as a operations specialist on multiple ships. Now he is a Mission 22 Ambassador, who is starting a great inspirational physical and mental health program called 22 peaks project. Matthew did not have an easy time by no means in service, during his service time he had to fight depression and pancreatitis. While all this was happening to him in service, he was able to overcome them and became a servicemember we all can look up to.

Enrique joined the Army as a 15T in 2015 and is still serving. He has been apart of two different commands and was awarded with a humanitarian service medal for providing hurricane relief in Costa Rica. Scott is an Army veteran who served from 1988 to 1992 as a 68R otherwise called avionics specialist equipment repair. He was on three command orders with two deployments, one to just cause and one to operation desert shield/storm. In this episode both Scott and I get our tirades on about how we feel the military and VA could improve.
