Aida Araissi founded the Bilateral Chamber of Commerce in 1997 as the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce. Aida also serves several additional strategic roles and Board positions for organizations including The U.S. Committee for the World Petroleum Congress; the City of Houston Mayor’s International Affairs and Development Council for the Middle East & North Africa (MIADC-MENA); the Houston Community College Export Academy; and the U.S. District Export Council. She has received numerous International business advocacy awards, including twice being honored with the U.S. Commercial Services Award for Excellence in Export Promotion. Ms. Araissi speaks English, Arabic, and French along with other key regional dialects. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism with a minor in Political Science from the University of Houston.
In this episode, we will talk about her journey from Tunisia to the US as a pioneer for commerce and diplomacy as she builds bridges between the MENA region and the US. Growing up in Houston, eye witnessed the inauguration of the first consulates from the MENA region for Saudi Arabia and Egypt in Houston, TX. Back then her mother was involved with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's mission to send the first Arabian astronaut to space in 1985. Fast forward, 40 years, a few months ago she hosted the first Saudi Arabian women astronaut in Houston TX. I leave you with the story.
