Across the Loch Episode 4 - 16th April 2024

  • Summary

  • Spring is late in coming to Colintraive & Glendaruel this year so after a wet and windy winter, Kirsty and Michael talk weather and specifically the effect it may have on local tourism following the closure of part of the Cowal and Loch Lomond Way, a long distance path founded locally but suddenly blocked by fallen and uprooted trees. They also discuss the impending threat to the future of the Glen Village Hall for whilst the British Gas CEO earned £8.2 million last year, this tiny hall run by volunteers and used by local clubs , is in difficulty largely because of Scottish Gas electricity bills of £1500 a month and more. Finally Kirsty talks to Claire Banner about taking over, with her husband Joe, the Colintraive Hotel just a few short months before the pandemic struck in March 2020 and how she views lockdown four years on, with the hotel once again a thriving and welcoming venue for visitors and locals alike.
