Abortion and Mental Health - Megan Johnston

  • Summary

  • Four years ago Megan began noticing the high number of anti abortion signs being displayed on highways and cities. It was also around that time Megan aborted a pregnancy. She began a campaign to display billboards with the slogan ABORTION IS HEALTH CARE. Megan shares her experiences with pregnancy, the decision to have an abortion, and the stigma associated with it. In this conversation, we explore the complexities surrounding family planning, and the informed decisions that individuals must make during their reproductive journeys. We discuss the nuances of pro-choice and pro-life perspectives, the importance of options in pregnancy, and the challenges faced by neurodivergent parents. Meg shares her personal experiences with mental health, parenting, and her identity as a neuroqueer individual, highlighting the intersectionality of these topics. Megan is a virtual mental health counsellor for 2SLGBTQAI+ and neurodivergent people. Contact her at https://theircollectivementahealth.janeapp.com/ or on instagram at their_collective.mentalhealth for a session!

TOPICS IN THIS EPISODE INCLUDE abortion, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation.
