  • Understanding the Behavior of a Predator and Victim Vulnerabilities Part 1
    Mar 12 2021

Predators do live among us. Unfortunately, we do not always see the subtle signs and tactics used by these individuals to victimize members of our communities. This episode of the “Think SAFE” podcast begins the series on Understanding the Behavior of a Predator and Victim Vulnerabilities. Noah and Scott discuss why the beginning and “grooming” phases into predatory behavior is important for not only catching the criminal actor, but for knowing what to examine in the future. This is a four-part series beginning a general discussion on the predatory process moving into more specific ideologies and characteristics associated with selecting victims through social media platforms.

  • The Relationship Between Parents, Teachers, and School Boards
    Mar 1 2021

Over the past year, the struggle with educating our children and living through a pandemic is reaching points of escalation. One recent incident involving school board members mocking parents gained national attention. While meeting virtually, unaware that their discussions were live and open to the public, the board members spoke in a disparaging manner towards parents of students in their district. The technical “slip-up” demonstrates that parents, teachers, and school board members must navigate through differing opinions regarding education plans and processes. Noah and Scott examine this issue closely comparing behaviors, practices, and necessary changes for creating a functional system that accelerates our youth into a successful future.

  • The Texas Infrastructure Problems
    Feb 24 2021

Texas has undergone a critical incident related to their utility’s infrastructure due to ice, snow, and dangerous freezing temperatures. Whether or not planning was initiated by stakeholders prior to the winter storm is a point worth considering. Scott and Noah discuss the path to “hypothetical planning and preparation” from the lens of a homeowner up to a critical infrastructure’s administration. What questions should you ask during the planning phase? Are you even planning for a “hypothetical incident”? Creating a plan of preparation must include the “hypotheticals”!

  • Exploiting the Vulnerable
    Sep 16 2020

Criminal exploitation of vulnerable individuals is without question a deceptive and manipulative means of ruining an innocent life. Recently, Netflix entered the spotlight of controversy for showcasing a foreign film on their platform. The movie allegedly depicts pre-teen girls scantily clothed in suggestive poses. The controversy has reached a congressional level with multiple elected officials calling for the movies removal and a federal investigation be open.

Our guest today is a retired police detective who formerly specialized in cases involving child and adult exploitation by criminal elements. Chris Russell explains that situations, such as the allegations against Netflix, have been used to desensitize people towards these types of crimes through questionable portrayals of the innocent.
