Criminal exploitation of vulnerable individuals is without question a deceptive and manipulative means of ruining an innocent life. Recently, Netflix entered the spotlight of controversy for showcasing a foreign film on their platform. The movie allegedly depicts pre-teen girls scantily clothed in suggestive poses. The controversy has reached a congressional level with multiple elected officials calling for the movies removal and a federal investigation be open.

Our guest today is a retired police detective who formerly specialized in cases involving child and adult exploitation by criminal elements. Chris Russell explains that situations, such as the allegations against Netflix, have been used to desensitize people towards these types of crimes through questionable portrayals of the innocent.

Negotiating through a shutdown due to COVID has its challenges for small business owners, but also has spectacularly stories. A recent shooting at the Fayette Mall in Lexington, KY demonstrated that by working together, individuals can remain safe. Whether you are a customer inside the mall, a store employee working a shift, or a responding police officer, teamwork and situational awareness is the key to survival. We also listen to a young mother’s first-hand encounter of fleeing the escalated violence inside the mall and how a store employee reacted quickly to keep patrons safe (Credit: LEX 18).
