A Film That Reminds You of Childhood (The Spirit of the Beehive/George Washington)

  • Summary

  • Innocence, playfulness, and imagination on the big screen can provide us not only with a nostalgic dopamine rush but also help us reexamine our childhoods. Though we can’t recall our past lives like Uncle Boonmee, we certainly can reminisce upon the cul de sac where we grew up and reconnect – all through discussing our favorite movies.

In our fifth episode of the Fox Den Film Club we each discuss a film that reminds us of our childhood. For those seeking all those sentimental feelings, both good and bad, we hope these films can help you relive a piece of the past.

Jake selected The Spirit of the Beehive (1973, dir. Víctor Erice).

Mitch selected George Washington (2000, dir. David Gordon Green).

As always, it is not necessary to have seen either of these films prior to listening – but watching along with us could make it more fun! We try our best to avoid spoilers.

Enjoy and welcome to the Fox Den Film Club!
