La Tigre! avevamo lasciato sciolto e privato del Capo del Branco, per colpa dell’opportunismo dei Lupi che ne avevano fatto parte. Lo ritroviamo ora ricreato dai giovani Lupi che al tempo di Shere Khan erano poco più che cuccioli, i quali, su suggerimento di Akela, si sono riuniti sotto un nuovo capo branco, Phao. Mowgli ha ripreso a fare una vita regolare e serena, siede ora accanto ad Akela sulla Rupe, sulla roccia più in alto di Phao, ed è lieto che il nuovo riformato Popolo Libero non abbia dimenticato le vecchie usanze.
