Ora un Mowgli saggio, adulto, misurato, si trova ad avere a che fare con una cosa di cui non conosce il senso né la dimensione: l’avidità umana. Per prima cosa abbiamo modo di conoscere meglio il rapporto tra Kaa e Mowgli: i due, infatti, dopo tanto tempo, sono amici di Caccia e di gioco, si pungolano e si provocano ad ogni occasione, e sarà proprio Kaa a voler mettere alla prova il Cucciolo d’Uomo, portandolo dal Cobra Bianco, custode del tesoro delle Tane Fredde.
