58. Listeners on the mic! - Laura's Story

  • Summary

  • During this episode I chat to Laura Shah, a BEAT ambassador who shares her experiences. Laura struggled with anorexia and had an suicide attempt at a young age which was then followed by the suicide of her mothers partner the next day. She shares how she navigated the chaos at that point, how her eating disorder was her only way of controlling it and how it impacted her late teens and early 20s.

Laura talks about the impact of someone stepping up and helping her and accepting that help as well as her experience of therapy as an adolescent and an adult.

She shares her greatest realisation and a bit about the work she does with BEAT - her dog Jess also makes her debut podcast appearance when she crashes our interview.

I really loved speaking to Laura and the way that she is so open, honest and real. It’s been such a pleasure to have her on the podcast and I can’t wait to see what she does next. Thank you Laura
