#3: What Conditions can Cannabis be used to Treat? — Benefits, Side Effects, Safety, Effectiveness, Comparing Other Treatments

  • Summary

  • Welcome to the third episode of our podcast where we ask Gianni the question ‘What Conditions can Cannabis be used to Treat?’ In this episode we dive into the medical uses of cannabis (including chronic pain, anxiety/depression, and insomnia, and more) its effectiveness as a treatment for various conditions, the potential side-effects of using cannabis and how they compare to other treatments.

In this episode, we welcome back our resident expert guest, Gianni Del Rosario-Makridis, who is a plant enthusiast and a final year Ph.D. candidate in the genetics of medicinal cannabis at La Trobe University. Gianni's work is dedicated to discovering new and exciting therapies for treatments by unlocking the therapeutic benefits of plants. He graduated with first class honours in botany in 2017 and has been researching cannabis trichome genetics full-time as a Ph.D. candidate since then. In addition to being an academic teaching plant-based molecular biology to undergraduates, Gianni is also a scientific consultant in the cannabis industry with experience as a cultivator for one of Australia's largest cannabis companies. He brings a wealth of expertise in both the science and commercial sides of medical cannabis to our show.
