Condannato a due ergastoli per l’omicidio di due agenti FBI uccisi nel 1975. Leonard ha sempre sostenuto la sua innocenza; sia nella ricostruzione degli omicidi che nelle vicende processuali le ambiguità sono state numerose, tra testimonianze ritrattate e procedure scorrette. Peltier oggi vive in condizioni di salute precarie, senza il diritto di poter usufruire della libertà vigilata.
