3 | Adoption, The Search for Your Cultural Identity and Finding Her Birth Parents with Catie Lewis

  • Summary

  • In episode three, I sat down (virtually, of course) with artist, Catie Lewis, to talk about being an adoptee and finding her birth parents through a Facebook post.

We talk about discovering your self confidence as a woman of color in a place where no one looks like you. And we address the question of our childhood: Why the HELL were there so many American Girl Dolls but not a single one that looked Filipina?!

    About Catie:

Catie Lewis is a self taught artist based in Austin, TX. She concentrates on simplistic, contour line drawings but also spends a lot of time expanding her painting knowledge and creating murals.

You can find Catie at @catiegl.art on Instagram. You can find her prints on her website: https://www.catielewis.com/

    Kristina's Current Obessions:

Join me at Book of the Month. I'm reading 'Library of Legends' with Janie Chang.

Holisticism is my new favorite obsession. https://www.holisticism.com/virtual-workshops

Ozark on Netflix! Don't send me spoilers.
