25-057 When God Says No: Trusting Him Through Closed Doors

  • Summary

  • Have you ever faced a closed door—a job opportunity lost, a relationship that ended, or a dream that didn’t come to pass? It’s in these moments we ask, Why, God? But what if that closed door is actually God’s way of guiding you to something greater?

Our springboard for today’s discussion is: Proverbs 16:9—"The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps."

We often have our plans mapped out, thinking we know what’s best. Yet, when God closes a door, it’s not to harm us but to redirect us. Consider Joseph—betrayed, enslaved, imprisoned. Each closed door in his life seemed like a setback, but in reality, God was positioning him for something extraordinary.

Maybe you’ve experienced the sting of rejection or the frustration of plans falling apart. But God’s “no” is never without purpose. It could be protection from unseen danger, preparation for a better opportunity, or a test of faith. Closed doors force us to lean on Him, to trust that He sees what we cannot. When one door shuts, another opens—on His terms, in His timing.

Question of the Day: How has a closed door in your life led to something better?

Let’s Pray: Lord, help us trust You when doors close. Remind us that Your ways are higher, and Your plans are perfect. Give us faith to walk forward, knowing You are guiding our steps. In Jesus' name, Amen.
