Have you ever faced an opportunity that seemed too good to be true? How do you know if it's a door God has opened or merely a distraction? Today, we’re talking about how to discern God’s will through open doors and what it means to step forward in faith.

Our springboard for today’s discussion is: 1 Corinthians 16:9 – “For a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”

God often guides His people through open and closed doors. Paul recognized that a great opportunity had been laid before him, yet he also acknowledged the challenges that came with it. Just because a door is open doesn’t mean it will be easy—but it does mean God is leading. So, how do we discern if an open door is truly from the Lord?

First, prayer must be our foundation. If God is opening a door, He will confirm it through His Word, His peace, and His voice. Second, wise counsel matters. Surround yourself with godly mentors who can discern with you. Third, biblical confirmation is key. God’s will never contradicts His Word. If the door leads to compromise, it’s not from Him.

When God opens a door, opposition will come. The enemy doesn’t sit idly by when you step into God’s purpose. Fear, doubt, and resistance will try to hold you back. But faith moves forward. God calls us to walk through the doors He opens, trusting Him to equip us for what’s ahead.

Lord, open our eyes to the doors You have placed before us. Give us wisdom to discern, courage to walk through them, and faith to trust You even when challenges arise. Let us not hesitate when You lead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
