#148: When I Was Growing Up, My Mama Said...

  • Summary

  • In this episode, I did something a little different. Have you ever looked at your own parenting style and compared it to how you were parented growing up? Maybe you have certain traditions or sayings that your parents used when parenting you or perhaps it’s how you nurture your child’s talents. Sometimes we also may notice some of the things our parents did that we may not want to carry on in our own parenting journey and that’s perfectly fine, too. If you are co-parenting, you must take on a style that joins both of your backgrounds together. If you are single parenting, you may have to make adjustments based on your particular circumstance using whatever support system you have. Well, growing up in a single-parent home allowed me to see many of the sacrifices my mother had to make but the way she parented me also made me the person I am today. So, I interviewed my mother, Linda Sagoe, in this episode to impart her wisdom to all of us.
