    今日でもなお、イエスのことばは人々の心を刺し貫きます。なぜなら、そのことばは正しく、謙虚で清いからです。しかしイエスは、ただ美しいことばを語ったのではありません。イエスは、ご自分の弟子たちに、「私の教えに従いなさい」とは言われませんでした。イエスは、「私に従いなさい！」と言われたのです。同じように、イエスを信じる人々は、金銭やものに対する貪欲さや人からの誉れではなく、また他の人々を権力や権威をもって支配しようとする思いではなく、義と愛と清さの模範を自らの生活の中で示さなければなりません。イエスは私たちの模範です。
