About this listen

This enchanting, feel-good novel was a runaway no.1 bestseller in France, parking itself in the top ten for 56 weeks.

“You’re probably suffering from a type of acute routinitis.”
“A what?”
“Acute routinitis. Finding it hard to feel happy despite an abundance of material wealth, a feeling of disillusionment and lethargy, amongst other things.”
“But . . . How do you know all that?”
“I’m a routinologist.”
“A routino-what?”

At thirty-eight and a quarter years old, Paris native Camille has everything she needs to be happy: a good job, a loving husband, a wonderful son. Why then does she feel as if happiness has slipped through her fingers? All she wants is to find the path to joy and fulfilment.

When Claude, a Sean Connery look-alike and routinologist, offers his unique advice to help get her there, she seizes the opportunity with both hands.

Camille’s journey is full of surprising escapades and richly meaningful lessons, as she sets out to transform her life and realize her dreams one step at a time. . .

Light hearted with a positive message

Not quite what I was expecting but enjoyed listening. Good if you feel like you're in a rutt, I could relate to Camille getting caught up in the hussle and bustle of life and forgetting your passions.

Synchronicity

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, l felt it was such a creative way to bring about change in someone, with lot's of research that had been gone into, and a very positive upbeat way to work through change. The character's were very believable and kept me wanting to listen more, as l listened to it on audible. l am also going to purchase a copy of the book. There are so many great ideas in this book and l plan to use many of them. l can well understand why it was so popular in France. The work force today has become so fast and competitive that people often don't even get a break for coffee or lunch, leaving them frustrated and wondering what is life all about, just same old same old each day. The suggestions in this book encourage people to take a fresh look at what is important to them and to bring the changes that will make them happier and freer to live the life they want.

Enjoyable way of learning some life lessons

I like the way the author uses a story to teach. Not many of the lessons are new concepts but put together and presented this way is helpful and enjoyable. I initially found it a bit stilted, unsure if it was the translation or the narrator. A couple of chapters in I got used to it, and it didn’t bother me as much.

Positive psychology

It is a sweet book but it really is a very thin novel which is used for a dish to serve some positive psychology on. I think reading a self help book which knows what it is will be better than a novel that really doesn’t. That said, for those who do not read self development books, this could be a soft landing into the world of personal growth.
