Publisher's Summary

Young America, Volume 1 begins in the year 1773. With the continued pressure from England, the Colonists are feeling the heavy hand of King George as he deliberately makes life intolerable with steep taxes on everything. English soldiers are everywhere ensuring the taxes are paid. You can feel the electricity in the air as tensions rise. The Colonists are in agreement that something must be done.

Now, we follow John Earhart, who is a curious little mouse, as he stumbles upon Samuel Adams and the clandestine Sons of Liberty. Since he is so small, he's easily able to hide and listen to Samuel Adams as he and the other Colonists plan the Boston Tea Party. As he listens intently, John not only discovers what the objective of the plan is, he also learns what honorable men the Sons of Liberty are.

John's heart and courage are much bigger than he is, so he decides to witness the Boston Tea Party himself. He identifies.with the Sons of Liberty, and most of all Sam Adams. It's because of this that he reaches the decision to observe what they have in store next. Namely, a trip to Philadelphia to meet with a few representatives of the colonies and a man named George Washington. This is where Volume 1 ends.
