About this listen
From the New York Times bestselling author of Girl in Pieces comes a breathtaking contemporary YA about addiction, family and finding your voice.
'impossibly moving' Vanity Fair
Emmy is the good one. Not strong-willed like her beautiful older sister, Maddie, and not difficult like her brother, Joey. She takes up as little space as possible. When Joey returns from rehab, her parents ask her to act as his guardian. She's also expected to keep on top of her grades and hold everything together after the tragic events of that summer. The only person who makes her feel seen is her secret lover, Gage, but no one can find out about that ...
How long can Emmy keep up her careful balancing act before it topples?

A touching tale of addiction
As someone who has watched multiple family members struggle with addiction, some overcoming it and some stuff in the throws, this story is such a raw depiction of what's it's like to live with and love a family who is struggling with substance abuse issues. Really beautifully and respectfully done

Beautiful and heartbreaking
A beautiful and heartbreakingly realistic portrayal of addiction told through the voice of a family member. Thoughtfully written and well presented by the narrator. I will definitely listen to this audiobook again.

Good
I really enjoyed this book. It’s raw and real life - no sugar coating. The narrator was well spoken but sometimes hard to decipher between male speakers

Great young adult read
Honest and sobering view into addiction and it's widespread effects. A throw back to high school!

so real and so moving
as a former "Joey" this book speaks to me in ways no other book has, it's so beautifully written and will remain on my mind for a long long time. the only criticism I have is the crackle from the narrators mic and the mispronounciations of a handful of words but it's nothing too major

Boring
Very slow and boring. Wouldn’t recommend listening to this one. I gave it a few chances but not worth the time
