About this listen
What happens when the one that got away comes back? Find out in this sparkling comedy from #1 bestseller Mhairi McFarlane
‘Think of the great duos of history. We're just like them.’
‘You mean like Kylie and Jason? Torvill and Dean? Sonny and Cher?’
‘I think you’ve missed the point, Rachel.’
Rachel and Ben. Ben and Rachel. It was them against the world. Until it all fell apart. It’s been a decade since they last spoke, but when Rachel bumps into Ben one rainy day, the years melt away.
They’d been partners in crime and the best of friends. But life has moved on: Ben is married. Rachel is not. Yet in that split second, Rachel feels the old friendship return. And along with it, the broken heart she’s never been able to mend.
Hilarious, heartbreaking and everything in between, you’ll be hooked from their first ‘hello’.

Good story, great narration
Enjoyable book. Likeable characters. Long in places, but Julie Hrsmondhalgh's narration was awesome. Like being told a tale by a friend.

Great story wrong narrator
This was the wrong narrator for this story. The voice did not match the main character as it did not conjure up the right image of her. Was hard to picture her as attractive and not just as a slapper

Accent difficult to understand
Story was lovely. really enjoyed it. The accent was a little bit difficult to understand but apart from that I am very happy with this book.

Just fabulous
In this treasure of a book, Mhairi McFarlane weaves together the emotional and social journeys of two delightful protagonists, along with secondary characters who bring to mind some of Hugh Grant's hilarious and heartwarming friends from Notting Hill. The narrator was brilliant, the pace of the story perfect. I can't believe it's taken me so long to find this author!

Funny, beautiful, relatable
This is one of those special books that I couldn’t put down until I finished. I was so attached to the characters. The writing is fresh and funny and astute, definitely a cut above a lot of other writers of the same genre.
Big love for this novel!

Delightfully building the romance.
Being an Aussie, it took me quite a few chapters to understand the super-speed brogue (accent) of the narrator, and struggled with what was actually being said.
Suddenly, the problem disappeared and sounded less brogue to me - just like a switch in a movie from subtitles to English. Throughout the reading, I was often confused who was talking or when it was thoughts only versus spoken out load. This included the male voices.
But I applaud the narrator for her bright personality and the author for her delightful, romantic story. Overall, I really enjoyed this audio book and will listen to another without question. I loved the romantic tension being built between the two lead characters that took the whole story to develop.

Good not great
I absolutely love 'it's not me, it's you' and adored the main characters Delia - so was really excited to listen to this. Unfortunately I just couldn't like the main character Rachel - not sure if it was the the narrators voice but i just 'click' with her. The story was good and listenable but definitely wouldn't listen again. A bit disappointing
