great, except for the romance
I really enjoyed the main character and the magical world, but I found the romance extremely cringy. Mostly because the love interest had 3 traits: vague magical power, access to a giant flying bird, and being really really stern.

Strength
loved the strong lead character, I'm hoping there's a book two.. fantastic story, plot and ending.. I want more..

A goodxstory in an unusual setting
I enjoyed the majority of this story. Having a Stirling setting was interesting. There were a few plot holes that were poorly patched but the rest was fine.

Shadow love
Interesting story, it held my interest throughout.
The narrative was ok, easy to listen to, but not fabulous
