About this listen

A gripping, painfully honest and ultimately inspirational, New York Times bestselling memoir from global superstar and creator of the Red Table Talk series Jada Pinkett Smith.

In a media driven landscape that crafts narratives for our celebrities, Smith recounts her story in an intimate conversation with readers. Along the way, she explores her path to accepting her power as a woman, and her discovery that a strong sense of self is every woman’s right and saving grace.

An impactful and rare memoir that engages and educates, Worthy is a courageous love song to self, to family, to life, and to the world.

From an unconventional upbringing in Baltimore, to an unconventional marriage to one of the most famous men in the world, adhering to the status quo has never been a familiar road for Jada Pinkett Smith. In Worthy, Smith strips herself of all the labels and stories crafted by others, and reclaims her narrative with radical self-love. Worthy teaches us who Jada is, and how to embrace our most authentic loveable souls.

Critic Reviews

'Worthy is at its best when it’s sparky and spiky with self-doubt and humour' i NEWS

‘As a teen, she was a mid-level drug dealer on Baltimore’s streets, repeatedly mugged at gunpoint for whatever she held on her. Surviving such ordeals, and her more recent battles with alopecia, have given her a steely armour’ Daily Telegraph

'It’s a shame that Pinkett Smiths marriage has taken up so much attention because, as Worthy shows, it’s far from the most interesting thing about her’ Hadley Freeman, Sunday Times Magazine

Authenticity!

I've always felt Jada's authenticity throughout all the RTT episodes and this book is another testament to how real she is as a person. I love how raw she was willing to be throughout the book. Great move to have Jada narrate the audio book herself, it is hands down the most expressive audio book I've heard ever! Thank you Jada ❤️

You are worthy

This book felt like a reading of my own thoughts and was so timely as I navigate similar experiences in my own life. While I did love the memoir of her life unfold I had hoped this would have more explanation on our to overcome the challenges of the inner critic. I beautifully well written book that I would recommend but a hope that she further unpacks her space in navigating her worthy narrative.

A Transformative Journey: Jada Pinkett Smith's 'Worthy' is a Masterclass in Storytelling, Resilience, and Enlightenment

Jada Pinkett Smith’s audiobook "Worthy" is an emotional tour de force that captivates from the very first word to the last. Her storytelling prowess is nothing short of phenomenal, drawing listeners into a deeply personal and eye-opening journey.

Through her candid and heartfelt narrative, Jada offers a raw and unfiltered glimpse into her life, tackling themes of identity, resilience, and the multifaceted nature of intersectional racism with profound clarity.Listening to Jada recount her experiences is both inspiring and enlightening.

She bravely confronts societal blind spots, shedding light on the pervasive issues that many of us, myself included, may overlook. Her eloquence and honesty have made me more aware of my own unconscious biases, encouraging me to reflect and grow. For this, I am immensely grateful.

I am deeply in awe of Jada Pinkett Smith—not just for her remarkable journey but also for her unwavering strength and wisdom. Her dedication to her family and her ability to raise such talented, driven, and spectacular children alongside Will is a testament to their extraordinary parenting.

Their children, like their parents, are shining examples of passion and creativity.

"Worthy" is more than just an audiobook; it's a transformative experience.

Thank you, Jada, for sharing your truth and for inspiring us all to strive for greater awareness and understanding.

Setting the record straight

I love how she describes the journey within yourself as the exiled parts of yourself. She is a wise, insightful and courageous woman who sets the record straight. The part about Chris Rock asking her out on a date when her and Wil separated was a shock. Loved her memories of Tupac. Other than the overly explained spiritual stuff, this book was excellent.

I didn’t expect to be become a Jada fan

Jada is so likeable! I loved her childhood story and her bad ass attribute. It didn’t get the impression she held anything back, it felt genuine and personal. I really felt for her. Side note, her voice is soothing. I didn’t particularly like the last couple of chapters, which is a shame because I had such a high opinion of her book up until that point in time. It seems like out of nowhere she was preaching about God which I found off putting. I also thought she was out of line to be upset over a joke from a comedian. It’s getting to a point where a comedian can’t do their job and their jokes are seen as a personal attack. It’s comedy people! If we can’t laugh at ourselves, what misery befalls us. This aside, I loved her story and I’m now a huge fan.
