About this listen
In a world without, hunger may be as deadly as zombies.
With their Safe Zone overrun by the undead, taking refuge in the mountains seems like the safest bet for Rose, Tom, and the other survivors. There's one catch, however—between last spring's human exodus and a neighboring group's stockpiles, there's no food left to scavenge.
They know to be wary of people and zombies, but a new adversary proves itself just as relentless—hunger. Supplies are slim in the wilderness, and living off the land is easier said than done. As winter sets in, and their food dwindles to nothing, they discover how far they'll go to save the ones they love.

Like visiting old friends
As always Sarah has woven a perfect blend of all the right elements to bring a great story. Just sorry it ended so quickly and now the wait begins for the final chapter.

SLF just keeps better
I can't get enough of Sarahs Zombie universe. From the Until the end of the World, The City Series and now the Cascadia Series I am hooked again and again.

Some characters stay with you
Test of a good book for me is if I remember the characters for a long while after I’ve read the book. Even with the big gap between the 2nd and 3rd books, I still knew who all the characters were and didn’t have to reread the previous book to remind myself before reading this one. Love anything that Fleming writes

Sarah LF is a fav of mine!
I just adore a SLF novel. Another reviewer said it’s like visiting old friends and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve listened to all her audio books multiple time as I love the mix of romance, survival/prepper storylines, the characters who I can identify with (Craig and Rose in the Cascadia series), the twists and turns associated with the zombie apocalypse and the ample listening hours.
I’m sad because now I’ve just finished listening to all 9 of her audiobooks again, as I won’t find anything to match up for a while before I can go back and listen for the fourth time!
I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Teri Schnaubelt voice Rose - she did justice to Rose’s character! Likewise with Christian Barillas voicing Craig (and Troy as well). My only small bit of feedback - the other voice actors voicing Craig e.g. : Roger Wayne in a Tom chapter, was disappointing - not because Roger was no good, more so because I really loved hearing Christian do Craig and Roger did Craig differently. This goes for every chapter - not just a Craig chapter. I would have preferred each actor retain the lines appropriately for their own character.

On starvation: I was always wondering why apocalypse storyline’s never really brought in edible weeds and other lengths we might go to when choosing what to eat after access to modern day conveniences such as supermarkets and logistics are gone. This is the first time I’ve found an author who added it in, so it was a pleasant surprise. SLF brought in eating zombie flesh in the Until the End of the World Series, but the characters still had mostly adequate access to food. Just an interesting tidbit I found interesting.

Great story very engaging
The first half was a little slower for my taste but it really picked up. The cast is good and your really get to feel the highs and lows
