About this listen
Every year, millions of withdrawn little girls and chronically overwhelmed women go undiagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder because they don't fit the stereotypical profile: they're not fast-talking, hyperactive, or inattentive, and they are not male.
Sari Solden's groundbreaking study reveals that ADHD affects just as many women as men, and that the resulting depression, disorganization, anxiety, and underachievement are also symptoms of ADHD.
Newly revised and updated to reflect the latest clinical research, the book explores treatment and counseling options, and uses real-life case histories to examine the special challenges women with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) face, such as the shame of not fulfilling societal expectations.
Included is a brand-new chapter on friendship for women with ADHD. Three empowering steps - restructuring one's life, renegotiating relationships, and redefining self-image - help women take control of their lives and enjoy success on their own terms.

Finally myself explained
All my life being undiagnosed finally explained my past behaviour and decision (or lack of) making and how and why it now makes sense.

Absolutely wonderful
This book felt like it validated my entire life. I saw it recommended in an ADHD for women Facebook group, so thought I'd give it a go. So glad that I did! Whether you're a woman who has been diagnosed or you just have an inkling that maybe you have ADHD, you will get something out of this wonderful book. Sari Solden narrates it herself, which makes it feel even more personal. Highly, HIGHLY recommend.

Life changing
Absolutely must read this if you suspect you might be neurodivergent. I had no idea this is how adhd can present and it explains so much. Non judgemental, compassionate and comprehensive. Loved it and have recommended to several friends.

I think this book has changed my life
First off let me say that I've never cried so much from reading/ listening to a book.
I knew close to nothing about ADHD before reading this book (I had the image in my head of the child bouncing off the walls) but my sister sent me a link to your book and finally I have an answer for what I've been dealing with my entire life.
It's hard hearing your dirty truths out loud but I've never felt more seen and validated. I'm off to get myself diagnosed and seek some help, but I cannot thank you enough for writting this book!

oh my goodness- so insightful and life changing
I don’t normally write reviews but this book really deserves a review, I felt like Sari was reading my life story. I have been diagnosed with ADHD recently and I am 42 hrs old. I cannot rate this book highly enough. Thank you Sari absolutely brilliant and I no longer feel “dumb and stupid”

Thank you
I felt seen for the first time! Sari clearly explained the feelings of uncertainty post diagnosis that are not discussed by by medical professionals. I have ordered the paperback version too. Thank you Sari!

Validating but support strategies outdated
I found the first half of this book to be very compelling in the way it contextualised my experiences with adapted real stories of women with ADHD. I found the second half of the book less useful, as the support strategies suggested were quite outdated and also assumed the reader has disposable income for regular therapy, cleaners, organisers etc. It also would have been more helpful/current if the examinations of the mental load placed on women in general, and how that further affects women with ADHD, was interrogated from more of a feminist angle as a societal issue rather than just a problem that can be solved just by hiring help. Overall an important book and worth a read.
