Absorbing supernatural-suspense romance!
For over a hundred years ago, a dark warlock was killed by a posse of deputies. In revenge, every twelve years each of the warlock’s witch-disciples systematically kill one of the descendants of the deputies to enhance their powers and prolong their lives. Seth Tanner lost his younger brother to one of the witches a few years ago and now spends his life tracking them down. Seth doesn’t expect to fall for one of the witches’ targets, Jackson ‘Sonny’ Malone. Sonny doesn’t know what to make of Seth or his stories about the supernatural, but he feels the mutual attraction. There was a lot to love about this … great premise and world building, satisfyingly creepy and gory, and an absorbing, suspenseful chase story. I didn’t enjoy the instalove (but I generally don’t), so I found the relationship less convincing. Audio narrator Kale Williams knocked it out of the park, great stuff! great narrator
I've been in a mood for MM urban fantasy and this author has been popping up in my recommendations for a while so I gave it a goood. Solid decision!
It was really good.
It's somewhat unique in the fact that the MC is't a supernatural himself nor gifted with powers he discovers as time goes on. He's just a regular Joe who gets thrown into a bad situation and then decides to do something to fix the problem. He does it with pure determination rather than god given gifts. I really appreciated that element to the story. Just as Evan's disbelief and baggage from past trauma was totally on point.
Very good narration just made it all the better. Will be looking into more books narrated by Kale Williams - his voice is exptremely melodious with occasional gruffness that hits the spot. Great job and hope he continues narrating for the rest of this series.

Great start to the series
A great intro to Seth & Evan for this series.
Enjoyed that it took Evan a while to believe Seth and it wasn’t a case of ‘ghosts exist and they’re trying to kill you’ acceptance but more a case of seeing is believing and having to learn to trust Seth based on his actions as well as words. You could understand his reluctance to just agree to anything a complete stranger says to him, even if he’s good looking!
The storyline was different to the other series so it didn’t feel like more of the same, looking forward to what comes next now that Seth & Evan are a couple who know they can rely on each other.
Kale’s calm narration was lovely as usual making listening very enjoyable. I’m always surprised how quickly I seem to get through books he narrates, they just flow along. A great outcome after DNF’ing my last two books due to narrators overacting the scenes.
