Publisher's Summary

From the internationally best-selling author of The Simple Wild comes the continuation of a woman's journey to Alaska and a life she never imagined for herself.

Calla Fletcher returns to Toronto a different person, struggling to find direction and still very much in love with the rugged bush pilot she left behind. When Jonah arrives on her doorstep with a proposition she can't dismiss, she takes the leap and rushes back to Alaska to begin their exciting future together.

But Calla soon learns that even the best intentions can lead to broken promises, and that compromise comes with a hefty price - a log cabin in rural Alaska that feels as isolating as the western tundra.

With Jonah gone more than he's home, one neighbor who insists on transforming her into a true Alaskan, and another who seems more likely to shoot her than come to her aid, Calla grapples with forging her own path. In a world with roaming wildlife that has her constantly watching over her shoulder and harsh conditions that stretch far beyond the cold, dark, winter months, just stepping outside her front door can be daunting.

This is not the future Calla had in mind, leaving her to fear that perhaps she is doomed to follow in her mother's fleeing footsteps after all.

Dubious but won over

Was hesitant at first in downloading the sequel but great followup with interesting storyline in its own right.

My favourite of the ‘Wild’ series.

I really enjoyed this second instalment in Jonah and Calla’s story. This is my favourite book of the series. Their new neighbours in Alaska add are a delightful edition and the wildlife also added some great moments. As I was listening I kept thinking what a fantastic tv series this would make.

A life together in Alaska

Jonah and Calla make a life together in Alaska.
This book deals with becoming a part of a small community, and making a new business.
Jonah sidetracks the charter business, by becoming a fire fighter in his plane and working for a safari company.
Calla has many lessons to learn about this isolated, harsh environment.

I loved this sequel to ‘The Simple Wild’ more than I had imagined. Hopefully there’s a third book in this series in the not too distant future!

book one is better

This book is about the two of them coming back together and move to a small town to make a new life together. My announce with this book is Jonah and his lack of communication/ honesty in comparison to the first book. He only said things once its had been poked out of him. Cali is the one meant to be 'quiet' like her father. The work he is now doing it the same as when he was at wild so I don't know why he hated it and basically throw away the business they started. It annoyed me that he couldn't see how him being away a lot bugged her as he was so unturned with her thoughts and feeling in book one. kinda dragged on
