About this listen

How can you believe all this stuff? This is the number one question Catholics get asked - and, sometimes, we ask ourselves. Why do we believe that God exists, that he became a man and came to save us, that what looks like a wafer of bread is actually his body? Why do we believe that he inspired a holy book and founded an infallible Church to teach us the one true way to live?

Ever since he became Catholic, Trent Horn has spent a lot of time answering these questions, trying to explain to friends, family, and total strangers the reasons for his faith. Some didn't believe in God or even in the existence of truth. Others said they were spiritual but didn't think you needed religion to be happy. Some were Christians who thought Catholic doctrines overcomplicated the pure gospel. And some were fellow Catholics who had a hard time understanding everything they professed to believe on Sunday.

Why We're Catholic assembles the clearest, friendliest, most helpful answers that Trent learned to give to all these people and more. Beginning with how we can know reality and ending with our hope of eternal life, it's the perfect way to help skeptics and seekers (or Catholics who want to firm up their faith) understand the evidence that bolsters our belief - and brings us joy.

The clarity of Trent’s message

Very good book that helped me with my catechism towards the Catholic faith. Honey recommended with useful information and helping answering some of the common questions.

Generally good introductory book to Catholicism

I think it is a generally good introduction to Catholicism and it includes no heresey and stands for truth. However the issue with books like these is that there can be about 2 books written on topics that one chapter speaks about. Also, for me if I were to read one chapter on the heavy topics it mentions such as reason for belief in God, Jesus, Christian sexuality, the afterlife etc, I would need to read a whole book on the topic. So I think that this book is more of a starter for those who are not sure about the faith, I still think it gives a good case for why the Catholic Church is true, but for beginners. I think this is definitely the book you’d hand out to mates or family or whatever. God bless Trent Horn though. There are tiny bits where I think Trent might be misrepresenting scripture, but only when its a really insignificant thing. I also think he does not adequately respond to objections to why hell is not fair. Though I dont think he is really able to respond to all objections in one book on such a large topic. Also an issue with the audiobook is that it does not include the footnotes (which I have seen in the actual book) which are often insightful.

GREAT BOOK TO GET AN UNDERSTANDING ON CATHOLICISM1

This Book is highly recommended for all catholic, non catholic and non believers/atheists. It is a very simple book to read or listen to and easy to understand and gives people a thorough practical understanding of the Catholic religion without having to read deep theology texts. Trent also gives the reader practical analogies and extremely accurate information, which help create a better picture for the reader to get a good grasp of what the catholic religion and the church that Jesus setup over 2000 years is all about. The book covers a lot of topics and I truly believe this is a very small investment for the people that either want to reinforce their faith or for people that have an open mind and want to get know what the faith is all about.
