About this listen
Backstroking languidly across the surface of the quarry, Khloe felt the silty water slide over her body as Jake sat smoking a joint and taking in the view from the shore. A gentle breeze meandered through the eucalyptus and a couple of rogue ducks skimmed across the water. The afternoon sun warmed her face, and it was great to be alive....
Set in the sprawling satellite city of Logan, Who Killed Khloe? opens with the school cleaner’s gruesome discovery of a 15-year-old girl’s body in the boys’ toilets of Logan Park State High School. The body is identified as that of Khloe Jackson, and initial impressions paint Khloe as a stereotypically shallow, selfie-addicted millennial teen. Khloe’s boyfriend, Jake, is nowhere to be found....
Single mother Detective Shayne Christie and Constable Matt Jacobs lead the investigation. Soon enough, Logan’s dark underbelly rears its ugly head as council corruption, and a grubby online trail of child exploitation is exposed.
Through the course of the narrative, the ripple effect of Khloe’s death profoundly shakes the foundations of three Logan families and Detective Christie is compelled to reflect on the pressures faced by modern parents and their children in a dynamic, digital world.

Enjoyable genre fiction
It was exactly what I was looking for. Nice that it featured Logan landmarks. Fun for Brisbane listeners to have a crime story set in our backyard.

A great ride! More than just a crime novel. A story of place, strength and resilience. You can’t keep this secret.

Great who done it!
I really enjoyed this book! Set locally (for me living in Brisbane/Logan) this story had me driving extra blocks in my car to keep listening! I loved the female characters, each with their own strengths and I was really drawn into their individual challenges. I appreciated the dashes of humour throughout the narrative, a bit of relief in a novel with a grim topic. The authors voice is so enjoyable to listen to, I find with some audiobooks the narrator can be distracting but Alex’s voice was easy to listen to and seemed to suit the narrative! The author obviously has good knowledge of the area and it was fun to be able to picture the areas described. All in all a great story that kept me guessing!

Well worth it and a page turner
Alex Nader writes a murder mystery that is bizarre as it is relatable. The story has its usual predictable twists and turns but it is the unpredictable ones that delight the most. The characters are people we all know or we have all come across, which is why you get a bit invested in them. Nader’s positive use of relationships in the book such as in families and the workplace also leave you upbeat on a sad story.
How the characters use local colloquialisms for light hearted banter back and forth with the other characters amuses to.
