About this listen
The first audiobook of Skilgannon the Damned, from the acclaimed author of Legend.
Skilgannon the Damned had vanished from the pages of history. Following the terrible triumph at Perapolis, the General had taken the legendary Swords of Night and Day and ridden from the lands of Naashan. No one knew where he had gone, and the assassins sent by the Witch Queen could find no trace of his passing.
Three years later, as a mob intent on murder gathers outside a distant monastery, they are faced by a single unarmed priest. In a few terrifying seconds their world is changed forever, and word spreads across the lands of the East. Skilgannon is back. Now he must travel across a perilous, demon-haunted realm seeking a mysterious temple and the ageless goddess who rules it. With assassins on his trail and an army of murderous foes ahead, the Damned sets off on a quest to bring the dead to life. But he does not travel alone. The man beside him is Druss the Legend.
In a world torn by war, White Wolf is a tale of love, betrayal and treachery, which examines the nature of heroism and friendship and the narrow lines that divide good from evil, redemption from damnation.

Gemmel and Barrett are equal to Abercrombie and Pacey
I’m glad that all the Drenai books are narrated by Sean Barrett. He is perfect for them. Waylander, Druss, Skilgannon. Perfect vocal characterisations. They are of course wonderfully written characters as well.
Gemmel has such a straight forward way of telling a tale. But his characters are still complex enough to grab your interest. Even the supporting characters are written such to gain your emotional investment.
I felt the end of this novel was perhaps a bit rushed. But with everything else it delivered, including a softer look at Druss, I can overlook the minor shortcoming.
Looking forward to meeting Skilgannnon again.

Another great!
White Wolf is another amazing novel from who I believe was one of the greatest storytellers of our time. David Gemmell's novels carry stories within stories. Lots of action, amazing storytelling that leaves you wanting for more, dotted with bits of philosophy you will ponder way after the novel is finished. I have read almost all of Gemmell's books and I am enjoying them all over again with the audiobooks.

So Very Good!
Once again so very good! Well written story with wonderful characters and fantastic narration. A book that draws you in and pulls you along resulting in you caring for the heroes whose characters are flawed but so brave. Cannot recommend enough, terrific book!

Great Characters again
I have only just returned to fantasy because I stumbled on The Drenai series. Sean Barrett is excellent again narrating for these hero, adventure stories. No big brain drain just exciting stories with interesting characters.
