About this listen
A great fantasy debut with elements of Chinese Taoist philosophy and martial arts. This is storytelling at its best...adventurous, exciting and with a touch of the gods.
Action, intrigue, demons and dragons
Kylie Chan creates a fast and furious story balanced between the celestial and the mortal, the powerful and the innocent...
Emma Donahue has just started her new job as nanny to Simone, the daughter of John Chen, a very rich Hong Kong businessman. She understands that Simone may be a target for kidnappers but she does not expect to be drawn into a world of martial arts, magic and extreme danger, where both gods and demons can exist in the mortal domain.
When John and his American bodyguard, Leo, teach Emma their particular style of martial arts, they begin to realise that Emma herself is more than she seems....

Brilliant story
Kylie Chan is an amazing author I've read all of her books and this audio book was great.
My only issue with this audio book is it started skipping halfway through like the file is damaged.
Other than that it was well worth listening to.

great story and great narrator but there were large chucks of sections where the last word or 2 of every sentence was cut off

Great Story
Was awesome to see that this series had become an audio story as I had first read it over 10 years ago and loved it.
The only disappointment for me was that around chapter 20 the audio started skipping for a number of chapters.
The narrator did an excellent job.

Amazing book
Amazing book, but why audiobook ever uses Australia people to read is so weird!! The narrator killed all sense of romance in this book, it was cringe and her accent is terrible.

Excellent telling of an excellent story.
Just finishing listening to the last book in this series and devo to learn the next trilogy isn't available yet! Excellent performance of one of my favourite book series that I keep returning to. It was excellent to hear an Australian narrator take on such a vast cast of characters and absolutely slay it, giving everyone a different sound, brining them to life. I really hope the second trilogy is getting worked on RIGHT NOW with the same narrator so we can see the story continued. Do yourself a favour and give it a listen!

Finally it is here
I have been eagerly awaiting for this title to be released on Audible. Kylie Chan weaves a deep story about an Australian nanny who becomes involved in the world of Chinese Gods and Demons. The Dark Heavens series is a big favourite of mine and am glad that I get to listen to this wonderful story. The narrater does a wonderful job at retelling the story.

Amazing Book, long awaited Audiobook!!
This series was one of my first sci-fi/ fantasy/ female protagonist that I read and fell in love, gobbling up each book as they were published... So to say that I was excited by this being released onto Audible would be an understatement.
Fantastic story, Very descriptive and well thought out, with lots of room for the progression of the next three books. Very well read by an Aussie Narrator (so it’s more authentic 😀) who slipped easily into the International Accents and, in my mind, did them justice.
Audible, please make sure the release the next book soon, and were all waiting for the next one 😀.
