About this listen
"I’m afraid my vagina might turn itself inside out if you try to give it another orgasm so soon.” (Scarlett Bodine)
Raised by her three overbearing brothers, Scarlett is a hell-raising tomboy with a tool belt. A tornado stirring up trouble everywhere she goes. Her favorite pastimes? Drinking any man under the table and two-stepping. But she has zero interest in love. Scarlett’s only being neighborly when she claims her sexy next-door neighbor as her new pet project.
Devlin is a man at rock bottom. Marriage, political career, five-year plan to Washington, DC. All destroyed with one well-placed jab. The golden boy is now the black sheep relegated to Bootleg Springs, a tiny West Virginia town with two claims to fame: 1. moonshine and 2. the cold case disappearance of a teen girl.
Devlin just wants to lick his wounds. But Scarlett has other ideas for his tongue...and the rest of him. She’s determined to bring him back to life, even if getting him back on his feet means never seeing him again. But when an old mystery becomes new news, she’ll need his help to survive the scandal.

Lucy always delivers
I'm obsessed with Lucy Score's books. Love the dynamic of the 2 main characters. There is always a solid narrative behind the romance in her books. some Rom-coms miss that but the tension around them builds with their relationship. Also liked that it wasn't a 'fake relationship' scenario, it was a little more real world than that. Love how unapologetically frank these characters are with eachother, such a fun and steamy read. My second favourite Lucy Score book but it is a very close second place!

Whisky Chaser review
A nice first book into this series. I loved the world it opened up, but I struggled strongly with relating to their lifestyle. They’re quite aggressive and violent people by nature, solving things in a way I think is supposed to be alpha and cool, but left me wondering how I’d feel if I met these characters irl. Kind of broke my suspension of disbelief throughout.
However, at the core, this relationship was fierce and angsty and I was hooked by it.

pretty fun, refreshing characters
I had listened to a few in the series before this one, and think it holds up quite well against the good ones in the series. I found the leads to be refreshing takes on typical male/ female leads. very much appreciated Scarlett take no prisoners modern woman attitude, and general ability to kick arse without being butch. Her and Devlin were a good match, and the development of their relationship matched their characters. narrators did great job and fit characters.

Small Towns, Hot Sex
Scarlet Bodine, of the Bootleg Bodines, is introduced to Devlin when he moves into his Grandmother's house next door to lick his wounds and hide from public life while his divorce is finalised. Scarlet introduces Devlin to the vibrant town community of Bootleg, and into the chaotic fold of her family including all her brothers.
Scarlet and Devlin have instant attraction. The book has multiple sex scenes and strong physical attraction throughout the book. That said the actively learn about each others real life outside the bedroom. By the end you'll be completely convinced they were made for each other.
This is the second book I've read narrated by Stephen Dexter and Natalie Duke. I'm a huge pair of them as a combination for romance books and do a fabulous job of bringing the characters alive.
There is a town mystery that starts in this book, the authors have stated it doesn't get resolved until the final book. It really makes me excited to read the remainder of the series.

Great story and excellent narration
Love the Bootleg Springs series - well rounded characters, family and community, steamy times, with a bit of mystery. The narration is spot on and enhances the story, accent, inflection, pacing.
