About this listen

On the first day, she met her match. Then she killed 16 men.

Tossed into the gladiator arena, the delicate girl in the fancy pink dress should have been the first to die. Leyli had other plans. Surviving was at the top of her list. Revenge was a close second.

Having grown up behind the sheltered walls of the Oberhame Palace, she knew what the crowd wanted. She'd just become a pawn in the games of men. But why was she still alive? They'd killed her brother, the heir to the throne. Had they gotten to her father? Was the king dead?

In the cell beside her, the Lion of Lenlochlien was impressed. When he offered advice, she took it. When she kept coming back after each round, he dared to hope she'd survive. He had no idea he was about to become her best weapon.

Leyli didn't just want to live through the games, she wanted to protect her father's throne, but to do that, she had to become someone else. The Lion had to make her a Wolf.

Chained side by side, he'll show her how to be a killer. She'll give him a reason to keep fighting. Together, they'll learn it takes a friend to survive.

Definitely my new favourite

Excellent story, stumbled a little with the presenter, but I loved the story so much, I still added it to my very short list of favorites.

Wow

This is a very unique story. It’s set in a fantasy world that is like a medieval historical novel. This story is about a young girl that wakes up in a cell and expected to fight for her life in a gladiator’s arena. It’s not spoilers because the book opens with this. It’s about how she goes from a young woman that has spent her life in a place kept away from the world to a gladiator with many kills behind her and a fierce reputation. This story is well written and the character growth and what she goes through and how she becomes the Wolf is realistic. It’s a bloody good story.
Look the narrator dose actual character voices pretty good but when it’s them thinking or doing the story narrative it’s a weird old lady type voice. She’s narrated a couple of my favourite authors so I’m used to it. Because the actual story is so good it’s worth sticking with. If you can’t get used to the narrator get the kindle book because the story is so good you don’t want to miss out. It’s exciting and will have you on the edge of your seat right till the very end.

Reminiscent of Conn Iggulden

Reminiscent of Conn Iggulden with a young female twist! I look forward to seeing how the story progresses.

This was quite sweet

Although it was about a princess sold into gladiatorial slavery, the violence took a major backseat to the very sweet romance. None of the plot was new or complex, but I enjoyed it as a different cute-meet between a young couple.
I image book 2 will be more about court politics.
