About this listen
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
In the late summer of a long-ago year, Alton Turner Blackwood brutally murdered four families. His savage spree ended only when he himself was killed by the last survivor of the last family, a fourteen-year-old boy.
Half a continent away and two decades later, someone is murdering families again, re-creating in detail Blackwood’s crimes. Homicide detective John Calvino is certain that his own family - his wife and three children - will be targets, just as his parents and sisters were victims on that distant night when he was fourteen and killed their slayer.
As a detective, John is a man of reason who deals in cold facts. But an extraordinary experience convinces him that sometimes death is not a one-way journey, that sometimes the dead return.

The reader does an AMAZING job!
Steven Weber needs to read more books! We picked this book on the fact that he read it only... and we’re not disappointed.
We are not fans of Dean Koontz and have listened to many of his books :)

Predictable, shallow characters
This is my first (and likely last) Dean Koontz novel, the characters had no life to them and the relationships relied heavily on long monologues about how much they loved one another whilst rarely interacting. The children characters themselves were written so unbelievably it was astounding. A scene had set a family of 5 at dinner talking about roman architecture, the author expected me to believe that two children and a teen had any type of passing knowledge on the subject. Has Dean ever been a child or did he grow in a pod and one day immerge as a fully grown human with a knowledge of all things art?
Steven Weber - Narrator did an amazing job as always.

Not my fave Koontz book
As a massive Koontz fan I didn’t really love this book. His books where there is an element of otherworldly stuff are often not my favorites, although there are some brilliant exceptions. This however is certainly not one of those exceptions. I listened until the end but the story failed to grab me and no particular character got me interested enough to be invested in the outcome.

Riders
Not one of authors best.
Was a bit disappointed as thought the story started ok, but just didn’t carry on with much of a story line.
