Publisher's Summary
One of VOGUE's 6 Female Writers to Read in 2018
It's not always easy to find self-worth in a world that seems obsessed with telling us we're not good enough. Empowering, intimate and full of heart, this highly anticipated debut audiobook from the online sensation 'The Slumflower', aka Chidera Eggerue, the unstoppable force behind the groundbreaking movement #SAGGYBOOBSMATTER, is essential listening for all young women. It's time to take charge of your life.
In What a Time to Be Alone, The Slumflower will be your life guru, confidante and best friend. She'll show you that being alone is not just okay: it's just about the best freaking thing that's ever happened to you. As she says, 'You're bad as hell and you were made with intention.' It's about time you realised. Peppered with insightful Igbo proverbs from Chidera's Nigerian mother and narrated by the author, this audiobook will help you to navigate the modern world. We can all decide our own fates, and Chidera shows us how, using a three-part approach filled with sass, wisdom and charm.
Learn how to celebrate you - decide your self-worth, take time to heal and empower yourself in this messy world.
Don't worry about them - avoid other people's demons and realize that everyone is protecting themselves from something - no matter how aggressive their method.
Feel the togetherness in US - sustain and grow healthy relationships and avoid toxicity in your friendships.
Own your story. Create your own narrative. Listen to this audiobook. #WATTBA

A must for anyone that identifies as woman.
I have read and listened to this whenever I need a reminder of who the fuvk I am, living as a WOC in a patriarchal society. I suggest every woman read/listen to this. The blueprint to "women don't owe you pretty" by Florence Given.

Enlightening
This is one of those books that makes you realise a whole lot of things you already knew but it’s still amazing. Would highly recommend to basically any human. Learn what to let go of and how to love being alone. Incredibly relevant for our social generations.
Only regret is that it’s one section and isn’t broken down into chapters to make it more readable. You want to listen to one bit, pause, process and come back to it when you need but as one section this is not available.

worth buying!
the narrator was fantastic. I used to follow her on Instagram before I got rid of my social media and found her tenacity extremely inspiring. I couldn't really relate to all parts of the book itself, it's not my normal read so I found it a bit cheesy, but it was to be expected. if you're lost and need a quick hit of empowerment it will do the trick.

What a time to be with Chidera
An excellent pep talk and advice from this absolute powerhouse who has led the way for new feminist theory and its packaging. Don’t buy the imitations - eg, women don’t owe you pretty. This is the real deal.
