About this listen

Once, we’d worshipped them as Gods.

For nearly four-hundred years, the Veil has protected us from the Fae of Alfheimr. In their absence, our lives have shifted from decadence and sin to survival and virtue under the guidance of the New Gods. I’ve spent my entire life tending to the gardens next to the boundary between our worlds, drawn to the shimmering magic like a moth to the flame.

Then, we died on their swords.

All of that changes the day the Veil shatters, unleashing the fae upon our world once again. The magic of faerie marks those of us they mean to take, but the Mist Guard protecting Nothrek will kill us all before they let the fae have us. There’s no choice but to flee everything I’ve ever known, not if I want to live to see my twenty-first birthday as a free woman.

Now, they’ll claim what’s theirs.

But before they capture me, Caelum saves me from the Wild Hunt. Fae-marked and on the run, he is able to fight back in ways I only dream of. From tentative alliance to all-consuming passion, our bond strengthens as the fae close in and evil lurks ever nearer. With my life on the line, he is everything I shouldn’t dare to want and a distraction I can’t afford. I can’t seem to stay away, not even with something greater on the line.

My heart.

It’s not too bad

I was hoping this series would be a my new obsession, however it didn’t happen that way. I can see where the author was going with this, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. The narrator did a lovely job and would definitely listen to narrations by them again.

Sounded promising

Started out promising .. a fairly unique storyline that captured my interest. I like my books with a bit of steam but once it started, the steam overtook any story or plot and I started losing interest. I even found myself skipping ahead in spots, hoping to recapture the magic of the plot. The story did pick up again towards the end but I am undecided if I will continue the series. Narration was fabulous!

"little one"

He says "little one" and it's the grosses nickname i've ever heard. the story was good but it needed fleshing out. aside from the gross pet name and the very predictable twist it was an ok read.

Been there done that!

Story had a lot of potential but I feel like it really fell flat. The start and the end were the only parts that had any meaning and the middle was just pointless.

Predictable but enjoyable

Good easy story. The narrator was good until she spoke the male leads lines. Found it so hard to listen to I had to stop listening.

Powerful, believable, addictive Im craving more

I thought the book was high stakes , high energy and emotional to the core - book was 5 star great.
But this Reading & Voice acting by Ava Lucas has me breathless, my heart racing and enthralled. I cant relax im in heighten state of performance withdrawls.
I can't wait for book 2 Audio in October!

This was an experience of a sudden and striking realization THIS BOOK IS A GOD! more than epic , I felt like I was right there! Ava Ava Ava Lucas .. YOU ... have taken this reading to the moon and back via the stars!!!! All the characters resounded.

He’d destroy the world for her.

I absolutely loved this!
Narration is excellent.

Entertaining and light

This was nearly a three as it was slow in some places and predictable AF 🙄 It really only got interesting in the last few chapters. I'm interested enough to continue the series. I liked the overall world building but some of the dialogue was a bit cringe

Narrator was pretty monotone

It was ok, though it did get annoying how obvious things were but the heroine remained clueless
