About this listen
My son and his girlfriend stand there, two terrified teenagers shivering in the doorway, and say the unthinkable. ‘I think we killed someone.’ Now, I have to decide exactly what kind of mother I am…
Everything changes in a heartbeat the night Conor and his girlfriend Paris Levinson come to us begging for help, their clothes spattered with blood. They say it was an accident, that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time…
A mother’s intuition is never wrong, and I know there is more they aren’t telling us. But Paris’ mother Helen and I have to make a choice that will change all of our lives. Do we tell the truth, and risk losing our children forever? Or do we lie to keep them safe?
We will do anything to protect our children, but one wrong move could cost us everything. Lying to the police was a risk, and now Helen is acting more unpredictable by the day – turning up at my house unannounced, harassing my husband, telling lies about my past…
The only way to save my family is to uncover the truth about that night. I’m convinced the answers lie hidden inside the Levinsons’ house. I’d do anything for Conor, but am I prepared for what I might find behind locked doors? But when your son is in danger, you find out what kind of mother you are…

Lots of twists and turns in these twisted tale.
it was the usual from this series with the earnest detective, a not so smart main character, and rich, vile villian but with lots of twists that kept pointing at different possible scenarios plus the characters were really well crafted. Enjoyable read. Made my day better while I got everything done.

Wow! - top notch thriller and top notch narration
Hard to fault this! It's a cracking thriller. The lead characters are sometimes a bit infuriating but the way the pressure builds on them and forces them to act in certain way is completely credible. Brilliantly plotted with tension maintained right to the end.
DCI Dan is a great character. Ideally i'd like to spend more time with him, focusing on the procedural aspects of detecting - but the way the book is written is completely compelling.
James Lailey is one of my favourite Audible narrators. He doesn't need to "imitate" accents or strive to sound like a woman -- he is just able to read stories and bring them to life in a totally engrossing way.
And these books are still part of the PLUS free catalogue. What more could you want????! Sensational value.

Pure Entertainment! 💜
Absolutely hooked from the very start. Not a dull moment in this story. Lost a fair few hours of sleep over the past week as I HAD to keep listening. It was comforting to get another story in the Detective Dan Riley series. Narrator was fantastic as always. Some more gripping, juicy writing from Anna-Lou Weatherley! ❤️
