About this listen

'This book isn't a memoir. It is a love letter to the phenomenon of autistic hyperfixation.'

A fascinating exploration of the autistic experience from leading advocate, Pete Wharmby.

In What I Want to Talk About, popular autism advocate Pete Wharmby takes listeners on a journey through his special interests, illuminating the challenges of autistic experience along the way. Funny, revealing, celebratory and powerful in equal measure, this is an audiobook that will resonate with many, and which should be required listening for anyone who wants to understand autism with more accuracy and empathy.

I’m Autistic so….

I enjoyed this, lots of reflective similarity for me, though not on the Titanic, war hammer or mine craft… but the later May change as my Son who is most likely just like me loves mine craft and he wants me to join in… might be a dangerous endeavour or rabbit hole or whatever you may wish to call it.
This is the second book I have listen to if Pete’s and the first really hit home and in honesty made me feel a little emotional too. I do hope there are more to follow… but my next question for now is “ do I want this in paperback too”?

Recommended reading!

Just finished my second listen to Wharmby’s other book, Untypical, and loved the dovetailing of the two while keeping each to their own purpose, too. Pete has such a great way of explaining the neurodivergent experience.
