About this listen

In just a few short years, massive shifts in public opinion have radically reshaped society's views on homosexuality. Feeling the pressure to forsake long-held beliefs about sex and marriage, some argue that Christians have historically misunderstood the Bible's teaching on this issue. But does this approach do justice to what the Bible really teaches about homosexuality?

In this timely audiobook, award-winning author Kevin DeYoung challenges each of us - the skeptic, the seeker, the certain, and the confused - to take a humble look at God's Word. Examining key biblical passages in both the Old and New Testaments and the Bible's overarching teaching regarding sexuality, DeYoung responds to popular objections raised by Christians and non-Christians alike - offering listeners an indispensable resource for thinking through one of the most pressing issues of our day.

Every christian should read this book

What excellent coverage of the issues re homosexuality facing us today in the 21st Century. A solid biblical basis is taken to address the issues. Even if the first part is a bit 'heavy' , the latter chapters, with their practical applications, are easy to read and understand. I did myself a favour by taking the time, in our crazy and busy world, to listen to this book. I will endeavour to listen to more of Kevin DeYoung.

An articulation of the traditional view

This book assumes that scripture is inerrant and proceeds to show that revisionist interpretations that would understand homosexuality practice to be permissible are not valid exegesis. It does have good qualifications in places but I felt a bit more of a pastoral tone would be useful (admittedly much of this is in the appendices 2 and 3).
it would be better if audible could add the chapter names instead of just chp 1, 2... they should be:
1 Introduction: What Does the Bible Teach about Everything?
2 One Man, One Woman, One Flesh (Genesis 1– 2)
3 Those Infamous Cities (Genesis 19)
4 Taking a Strange Book Seriously (Leviticus 18, 20)
5 The Romans Road in the Wrong Direction (Romans 1)
6 A New Word from an Old Place (1 Corinthians 6; 1 Timothy 1
7 “The Bible Hardly Ever Mentions Homosexuality”
8 “Not That Kind of Homosexuality”
9 “What about Gluttony and Divorce?”
10 “The Church Is Supposed to Be a Place for Broken People”
11 “You’re on the Wrong Side of History”
12 “It’s Not Fair”
13 “The God I Worship Is a God of Love”
14 Conclusion: Walking with God and Walking with Each Other in Truth and Grace
15 Appendix 1: What about Same-Sex Marriage?
16 Appendix 2: Same-Sex Attraction: Three Building Blocks
17 Appendix 3: The Church and Homosexuality: Ten Commitments
