Welding - 103 minutes of disappointment
The book contents was presented in a monotone. The information was mostly unexplained because it was necessary to be aware of the terms and processes quoted and being used - which is not the best way to engage the book's target audience of 'beginners', with little or no previous experience of the topic. Reference materials and diagrams were glossed over. Metal cutting was not much more than a sentence. More visual aids and perhaps links or references to video material, could have padded it out and made it more useful.
I was expecting this publication to be more directed to the hobbyist and electric arc welding. However, the majority of the content referred to ox-acetylene welding that requires more professional instruction and is generally beyond the hobbyist without hands-on instruction. Ox-acetylene instruction, I feel, would be safer and more suitably restricted to those who are on a boiler-maker apprenticeship, especially with the scanty and poor level of instruction that this publication offers for what are potentially dangerous processes.
I could not find any redeeming features for this publication..
