FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB

A brand new series.

An iconic new detective duo.

And a thrilling new murder to solve . . .

Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. He does the odd bit of investigation work, but he prefers his familiar habits and routines: the pub quiz, his favourite bench, his cat waiting for him when he comes home. His days of adventure are over: adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s business now.

Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. As a private security officer, she doesn’t stay still long enough for habits or routines. She’s currently on a remote island keeping world-famous author Rosie D’Antonio alive. Which was meant to be an easy job . . .

Then a dead body, a bag of money and a killer with their sights on Amy have her sending an SOS to the only person she trusts. A breakneck race around the world begins, but can Amy and Steve stay one step ahead of a deadly enemy?

'The thing that shines through in Osman’s writing is that he really likes people and revels in all their foibles and eccentricities. All of which makes for a delightful read – and another little slice of warmth in time for autumn' THE OBSERVER

'This is a sitcom-meets-Bond, and a fine murder mystery’ DAILY EXPRESS

'Much as with the earlier books, I read We Solve Murders in a few pleasured gulps' SUNDAY TIMES

Editorial Review

A retired detective, a kick-ass bodyguard, and a cat named Trouble
I always feel a dash of anxiety when one of my favourite authors kicks off something totally new, but the fantastic new series starter from Richard Osman does not disappoint. There are some familiar tropes at play: retiree Steve Wheeler dabbling in investigatory work, a diverse cast of characters who come together over pints and trivia. But he ups the ante with Steve's daughter-in-law Amy, a truly hardcore veteran-turned-bodyguard who works for an elite protection contractor. And the murders these two find themselves needing to solve are epic and global in scale. In true Osman form, the dialogue is punchy, fast-paced and smart, making this listen completely impossible to put down thanks to Nicola Walker's adroit and vibrant narration. — Emily C., Audible Editor

Fantastic follow up to TTMC!

Skilled narration brought all the characters in this whodunnit to life, the twist and turns kept me guessing and the humor was a dry as a packet of pork scratchings. It was perfect. 10/10

Loved this book

Great characters and storyline. A laugh out loud romp. Sorry to put the pressure on however I really want to read the next ‘We Solve Murders’ book.
I didn’t think you would be able to top ‘The Murder Club’ yet you have.
Congratulations Richard Osman

Funny, sweet and nail biting - Osman shows his talents and range in storytelling

It took me a bit to get into the story and understand the characters but once I was on the story train, I was hooked! I've been listening, laughing out loud, and sitting on the edge of my seat non stop since it arrived in my Library. I can't wait to listen again to catch all the tidbits hidden in the story I would have missed the first time. The narration was also great. I have to say it was different from the Thursday Murder Club, but that was a nice surprise and this book was a bit more gritty and action-packed but still kept to the heart of the story and the characters. Richard Osman has done a great job with high expectations. 5 stars.

great characters.

Just similar enough to Osman's other books to be recognisable, but different enough to feel fresh.

The narration made me feel sad

I love Richard Osman’s books and I enjoyed this first book in the new series. I understand that Steve was sad but I didn’t want to feel sad every time I listened but I did. It might be just me. I really enjoy Richard Osman’s women he clearly likes and respects women, what a nice change.

As brilliant as you’d expect!

For anyone familiar with the Thursday Murder Club you will find this book every bit as perfect as you’d expect. Couldn’t put it down! The narration is absolute perfection 🤩

A must listen Richard Osman novel!!

I absolutely loved this novel, I love Richard’s characters and the way he makes them so relatable and honest. It is a slightly slower burn than his Thursday Murder Club novels, and takes just a little more to get into it, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Can’t wait for the next in the series.

Riveting, tangled and witty

Loved it, couldn’t put it down! So many characters to keep in mind and so the tale wove further to a very pleasant and playful end.
