Publisher's Summary
When the rules turn deadly, winning is everything.
Only available from Audible, a gripping psychological thriller from the author of Silent Child, Saving April, and The Broken Ones. Perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, Lisa Jewell and Paula Hawkins.
This gripping multi-voice audiobook features Billie Piper as Effie, Dan Stevens as Ben, Shane Zaza as David, and Avita Jay as Sophie, other roles are played by Felicity Duncan, David Holt and Sarah Whitehouse.
The perfect couple. The perfect marriage. The perfect game.
Effie and Ben May have everything. Success. Beauty. Glamour. But beneath the charming smiles and expensive clothes, a twisted game is in progress.
A game for which only they know the rules.
Leaving their fast-paced London life behind them, the Mays move to the exclusive gated community of Ivy Oaks. Here they can settle down and start a family in this quiet, safe little neighbourhood. At least, that’s what they tell their new neighbours.
But the truth has deadly consequences.
While Effie and Ben scheme and manipulate those around them, they fail to notice their carefully cultivated façade crumbling away. The perfect couple soon turn the game on each other, breaking all the rules. But when the stakes are life and death, losing isn’t an option.
As the final cards are dealt, who will play the winning hand and who will pay the ultimate price?

the characters in the cul de sac were very interesting and there is always the occupants of one house who think they control everything

Fun!
Hats off to the author and the narrators - Billie Piper is perfect as Effie. This was such a great ride, I really enjoyed the pace and the mystery and the twist. Something classic and a little bit familiar. It made for an excellent breather between more serious and complex reads, and my husband loved it too.

Story was interesting
Everything was good.
The only thing was Billie Piper’s reading. It is very breathless and emotive, which makes it difficult to hear in the car or walking or anytime there is background noise. I have to turn the volume way up, then quickly turn it down when it’s Dan’s turn to read.

This book is really great at capturing the real life nuances and complexities in all different kind of adult relationships. The writing keeping you engaged with the story and captivated the whole way through. Billie Piper was fantastic, I really enjoyed listing to her. I was a little disappointed with the ending, but it was overall a really good listen.

The awaking of Effie
I loved this book and Effie was my favourite character as she realised from the moment we met her that she is not happy with who she is and what she has done and as we move along in the story Effie we learn she is not afraid to tell us she is a bad person and deserves not to happy . I love her The games we play was great book with great a twist I didn't see coming . if you like books 📚 with narcissistic characters and you if you believe people can redeem themselves no matter how bad they believe they have been then this is the book for you.
