Great addition to Jordans legacy

Well written and interesting. Has a lot of elements which was later integrated into the Wheel of Time which was fun to hear. Interesting battle strategies and cultural building. Recommended if you're a fan of the Wheel of Time.

An interesting read given the context.

Harriet McDougal, Robert Jordan’s editor and wife said she decided to publish this book so long after it was written because
of its fascinating foreshadowing of The Wheel of Time. This is certainly true in places and makes it worth reading if you are a Jordan fan. As a stand alone story it is satisfyingly self contained. A good thing considering the writer is dead and could not continue it if it wasn't. That said, it clearly was to be the first of several books so it does make one wonder if the plan is to publish this one and then see if there is demand for another writer to take on the story. Given the world building that was put into the book it would seem to be a waist not to get a Brandon Sanderson type to take over where Jordan left off.

Meh .. Ok, But..

Could be just the contrast between this and having just finished a re-read of WOT, but nowhere near enough background to understand really what was going on in between all the battles. Lots of parallels to Aiel and Wise Ones of course, but really didn't 'get' a lot of what was going on. Oh well ..
