Publisher's Summary

An Orks Novel

Witness a battle royale between feuding ork bosses in a fight for the position of Warboss – and access to a legendary gate that will help the orks conquer the galaxy.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It’s a raucous and bloody boyz-eye-view of a war for succession between six clans, told with typically orky flair by Mike Brooks.

THE STORY

With only one bastion still standing on the once unconquerable fortress world of Aranua, Warboss Gazrot Goresnappa should be basking in the light of impending victory. Instead, he lies ‘proppa dead’ beneath a decapitated Gargant’s head.

The biggest and baddest bosses from each of the six (no-longer-united) clans step forward to duke it out to become the next warboss – but the ork gods have other plans. A prophecy foretells of a mysterious gate that lies beneath the human city. The one true warboss will be the first to find it, and will use it to turn the galaxy green. Da Genrul of the Blood Axes knows only he is worthy, but it seems Evil Sunz Speedboss Zagnob and Goff Big Boss Mag Dedfist didn’t get the memo. And to add insult to injury, nor did the leader of the grot uprising, the one true prophet of Gork and Mork (or so he claims), Snaggi Littletoof, who seeks to use this opportunity to turn the tide of grot oppression.

Who will the green gods deem worthy?

Great Performance, Tremendous Fun

This might be the best performed Warhammer 40,000 novel I've heard. I really think you miss out if you just read the novel. The writing is punchy, and the book is the perfect length. Mike Brooks is having a great year.

Da Boss Has Done it Again!

The only thing negative I can say about this book, is that it is too zogging short!
The characters were a lot of fun!
Exploring the different clans was very exciting, and Mike Brooks expressed their differences perfectly.
The narrator was great too! It sounded like he had a lot of fun during the book.
I can’t wait for Mike Brooks to write another Ork novel. I have to read Warboss, and Brutal Kunin again, and again, and again!

The Ork Book you're looking for

I had to pause a moment to restrain myself from reviewing this "how da boyz talk". But I will say that I enjoyed this like Orks enjoy dakka.

The writing was great, and the performance elevated it to another level entirely. I wanted a good Ork novel but I wasn't expecting what is probably one of my favourite 40k novels to date. Its not literary in a verbose or philosophical sense: instead the writing is precise and enjoyable, which is sometimes harder to do.

Highly recommended.

Decent all around

While it doesn't have the humour of some Ork stories , it definitely has enough going on to stay engaging and introduces enough different scenarios to keep you listening.

Great voice acting with a wide variety of different ork voices which are unique enough so you always know who is speaking . Well done !

Hilarious

Super enjoyable and extremely well written with loveably idiotic ork and grot characters.

Amazing performance as well to the extent it’s almost confusing how many accents the narrator is able to perfectly nail.

It’s a bit jarring at first that the narrator uses the orkish cockney accent to read everything which isn’t spoken dialogue by non orks (including non-orks’ internal monologue), but it’s no big deal.
