Was good company on a weekend.
I highly recommend this author's story and the narrator's audio, both are looked for favourites now!
Added later: Enjoyed so much I have listened to it again a while later so thought to tell others it is worth the time.
This book does not require you to remember odd names, new cultural norms or bizarre situations. This is a life after EMP saga that I found enjoyable and was very glad I picked it for the weekends listen. The author takes you thru a reasonable recovery scenario and lightly touches on bad guys which is what I like. I find some EMP books write so much, way too much about the goings on in the brain of the bad guy it gets creepy. This author didn't. The story only reveals enough to orient them in the story, phew. The story covers a span of years but covers certain situations well so you are happy/sad/relieved when characters exit the story or are introduced.
Worried a tad at the start when the source of the EMP burst was identified, the global bad guys introduced, but that's the only time they are mentioned.

good and the bad
GOOD
amazing story, amazing characters, surprising deaths.
BAD
Hated the fact that tina was sacrificed in order to find rey\ray. I understand why they didnt kill him for character development and story building.
I was disappointed that they didnt include max more in the last few chapters

the first book was good but the second one was so bad that I could not continue listening
The premise of the story is pretty standard but book 1 was reasonably written and fairly enjoyable. However, the relationships that the main character has with all the females that he rescues demeans them and made them mere damsels in distress. The story was reduced to an adolescent boy's fantasy of being the hero and centre of attention. sorry, but I could not finish listening to it.
