Publisher's Summary
Lee thinks she's safe in the silver city, safe from the monsters. But she's wrong.
While on a mission for the alliance, Lee Reimer, a politician's daughter, celebrates a newly made pact with an alien race, unaware a vicious beast stalks nearby, ready to steal her away.
Vrexus, a new commander of the deadly vrisha known as the Blood Guard, is a lone wolf, ready to gain respect and rank among his own kind. His mission: take the alliance members from the city and bring them to the queen, alive. Seems easy enough for the outcast turned mercenary.
Only, when he captures Lee, he's not expecting to like what he sees.
As much trouble as she makes for him, Vrexus can't ignore her fiery spirit. Even as she fights him at every turn, he finds he craves the touch and taste of her. The more she runs, the more his hunger grows. The more she gives in, the more he's determined to make her his, even if it means going against the queen's orders and compromising his mission.
Lee knows he could be her ruin, but even she can't stop the fire growing between them. And as far as Vrexus is concerned, no one will take her from him. Not even a queen.
Contains mature themes.

oh wow, great story
I've been waiting for ages for this book to get to audible. it was different again to the others.
yet another H is against everything the h stands for. but here, our H has his own agenda.
we've been skirting around the mad queen, hearing about her schemes for a long time, and this is yet another. the pace was wonderful. It kept moving with things twists and turns and scary moments. it was a suspenseful plotline with hate turning to passion and a lot more, as time moved on.
the world Olivia built was awesome, comparing to parts of Earth, which helped me picture the terrain as the story moved through it.
Vrexus was just as scary as the other Vrisha but turned out to be just as protective and caring for Lee.
Penelope was brilliant as always and did a wonderful job, so looking forward to more.
