A Rogue Traders Novel
As the Indomitus Crusade begins, Roboute Guilliman tasks the Davamir Compact to find a route across the Great Rift.
Listen to it because
Witness the deadly politics and incredible wealth of the Imperium's privateers, as three powerful rogue trader dynasties put their considerable assets to work for the greatest crusade in millennia.
The story
Proud Lamertine. Fierce Helvintr. Cunning Radrexxus.
Since the halcyon days of the Great Crusade, these noble rogue trader dynasties have plied the void in the Emperor’s name, answering to whomsoever sits as the king of the Davamir Compact. There has been profit and adventure and abundance in these times… Yet now the galaxy is changed, divided by the birth of the Great Rift. As plans are drawn up for the most immense crusade imaginable, the Emperor’s reborn son demands that the Compact seek a way across the Rift.
When tragedy and betrayal threaten all their endeavours, it is the Lamertine heir, Erastus, who must rise to the fore—to guide the disparate forces of the Compact in service to their sacred mission, to avenge the wounds done to them by hidden hands, and to reveal the darkest secrets threatening the Imperium’s dreams of unity…

Good narration, author needs to get to the point
This was a solid book, good plot and an interesting look at rogue traders. Narration was also good, though there was a small amount of electronic feedback throughout that took some getting used to.
Only real downside was the level of description, it was just half a page of text to describe a single feeling or a strike. I get it that the author wants to expound on what is happening but it became tiresome to wade through. the old adage of show rather than tell.

Very average
A very average story. It’s generally ok but is somewhat predictable. It didn’t feel like a Rogue Trader novel.

Very predictable, good character progression.
Just kinda average, it didn't grip me at all sadly. Several times I found myself having to go back to figure out what was going on because I kept zoning out. There was also an effect placed on the narrators voice that just didn't work for me.

thanks luetin09 for the recommendation
Enjoyed taking a break from my usual space marine stories. Personally find that this book had intersting characters and a good plot line. It made a 6 hour drive & 5 hour plane ride much more enjoyable than it had any right to be.

Poor Audio quality and an even worse story
no much to say, the audio was of very poor quality with a constant hum/metallic background
the story itself was pretty poor with almost constant monologs/ rantings about "who i am" and "do you duty"
contrived nonsense

Where are the Rogues?
I was looking forward to insight into rogue traders, potentially into navigator houses, new cultures, rare xenos and technology not normally encountered in the Imperium.
Instead I was subjected to Space Wolves from Wish and the most milquetoast protagonist since Ferendir from the AoS Realm-Lords novel.
I must ask the author, have you ever heard the expression “show, don’t tell”? Repeating ad nauseam that a character is capable and respected isn’t convincing. Not once do the characters portray the traits the author prescribes to them.
Unlike a train wreck I was, thankfully, blissfully, only too able to look away.
