Best Book Yet
Natalie Maher has recently become one of my absolute favourite authors.
While I do really enjoy her handling of intense action. Hey characters are my absolute favourite aspects of her writing.
At this point she’s definitely my favourite body horror writer and I seem to leave each book with some kind of new perspective.
This coupled with the skill of Jessica Almasy easily makes her books some of the best on Audible in my opinion.
Would highly recommend.

Nobody's right but at least they're trying
Vigor Mortis has always been, and remains, a story about people who are fundamentally doing their best with the hand they were dealt, even as they fumble those cards often and in dramatic fashion. First it was just Vita, then we got Lark, and now we have... quite a few people, actually, none of whom are wholly right, just, wrong, or evil.
I usually don't love split POVs in stories like this, but this time around I found myself only very rarely being annoyed when the perspective jumped. Vita shares the spotlight with more people than ever, but it's still her story, or at least she's more or less the pivot around which the events generally revolve. Unlike in the last book, where huge amounts of character and plot development happened with the POVs vast distances apart, the various characters interact with each other now very frequently... and not all of them like each other.
Many times, I actually got rather defensive, because the current narrator had an incomplete, somewhat unfair, and also perfectly justified opinion of someone who's head I was just in, and that really forces you to actually consider those new perspectives. More than anything, this is why I appreciated having those other people's thoughts: it made it easier to see everyone's flaws and virtues, untainted by their own personal view of themselves.
Horrible things happen, of course, both to and because of our protagonists. There's mass murder, torture, excruciatingly detailed mind manipulation and, on multiple occasions, a girl with kitty ears purrs as she gets scritches- because on the other hand, the story isn't totally devoid of light and fluffy stuff.
In short? It's more Vigor Mortis, and it's great.

excelent storytelling and narration
loved the audiobook, my only nitpicks would be the shifting accents, particularly noticeable with lark and the occasional background noise.

Could not finish.
Not nearly as good as the first two books.
Will not be continuing the series.
