Publisher's Summary
As Vita's humanity slowly drips away, monsters fallen from an island above spread throughout her home.
While she fights fellow horrors outside the city's walls, her family suffers threats from within them. Yet surely there's no problem power can't solve...and if there's one thing eating souls is good for, it's power.
Experience the adventure of this fantasy novel by Natalie "Thundamoo" Maher, uncovering the secrets of a massive world of floating islands and the dangerous entity known as the Mistwatcher that rests beneath them. Vigor Mortis 2 pairs adorable charm with deadly seriousness, an incongruous mix that pushes triumphantly forward despite the horror bearing down on all sides.

Good continuation from last book
Chapter 1 and 2 are a solid start and did a good job of setting the tone of the book and got me hooked. My only suggestion is that it would have been nice to see a wider variety of voice actors and not just the one.

Loved It (Brutal Horror Warning Chapters 1 and 2)
First off, skip the first two chapters if your sickened by torture and incredibly brutal imagery.
The first two chapters set up lark as a character pretty well, however dropping a reader (even one who had just finished book 1) into such brutality without warning was... well I felt sick.
I love the characters and development given to all of the characters and was pretty impressed with the direct they took it after book 1 and the close call with templars. Additionally I enjoyed Vita's new attitude on life and drive for betterment, after having book 1 allude and only briefly touch what she's capable of, I was excited to see her push the boundaries of the magic system.
All and all a thrilling sequel to book 1, can't wait to see what's next.

Bigger and Darker.
To get this out of the way: I was a bit worried after reading some reviews, so I thought I'd clarify in my own that although there is a bigger focus on different POVs in this volume, the lion's share of the story belongs to Vita. She's still undeniably the main character.
Anyway, if you liked the first book, this is more of it! A lot more of it, in fact, being substantially longer and also, way darker. Vita's found a backbone, folks, and she will just not stop beating people with it.
Narration is superb, just as last time. Jessica Almasy does a fantastic job with Vita especially- she brings a delightful manic energy to the table, which honestly really helps you sympathize with the protagonist even as she commits vile atrocities.

Darker and better
I really liked the 1st book but this one is even better. The story was unpredictable in a good way and didn't shy away from darker situations.
I also really liked the alternate perspectives throughout, especially getting to see a bit of Penny's thoughts.
The world building is fantastic with allot of immersing mysteries.
